With revenues of 96,3 billion US-Dollars in 2004, IBM is the largest provider of information technology (hardware, software and services) worldwide, as well as the leader in On Demand Business Solutions. The company has approximately 329.000 employees worldwide and operates in more than 170 countries. IBM Germany, the biggest IBM corporation overseas, employs about 25.000 people at almost 40 sites all over Germany.

Johann Weihen became Chairman of the Board of IBM Germany in 2004. IBM Germany’s headquarters are located in Stuttgart. IBM operations in Germany comprise sales and services, production and development as part of IBM’s international activities. With approximately 1,700 scientists, engineers and technicians, the IBM Research Center in Boeblingen is the biggest IBM development center outside the U.S. with global development competence.
